Coliving x Lockdown – Culture Boost
Ever feel like you could use a little more culture in your life?!? What better time than now? It's never too late to become an even more dignified individual.
#3 Culture Boost
Read, read, read!
If you were wondering what would be the perfect time to enjoy an old classic novel or to start reading a new genre. This is a perfect time! We can't say it enough, but reading is one of the most beneficial activities, in terms of intellect, memory and stress reduction. A study by a cognitive neuropsychologist, David Lewis, has shown that six minutes of reading a day can reduce stress levels by 60% and is more effective than listening to music, drinking tea, going for a walk or playing video games.
Looking for some inspiration? Check our Inspirational readings about productivity. We asked Youri Dauber, our CEO, to share with you his favorite books. Let’s discover his selection: - Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In, by Roger Fisher
- Benjamin Franklin: An American Life, by Walter Isaacson
- Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future, by Ashlee Vance
- Einstein: His Life and Universe Paperback, by Walter Isaacson
- Animal Farm, by George Orwell
Appreciate Art
From your couch, it's still possible to see an Art exhibition, and it can make you travel, back in time to across the world! Google Arts & Culture’s collections include the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the British Museum in London, the Rijksmuseum Museum in Amsterdam, and hundreds of more places where you can gain knowledge about art, history, and science. Our favorite one is the interactive exhibition about Frida Kahlo, learn more about her life, masterpieces, and inspirations (Frida Kahlo).

Music
Half an hour of classical music per day: this is mandatory for all children in Florida, USA. Nicknamed Beethoven's Babies Bill, Law 660 is not only intended to help little ones fall asleep at nap time, but it also aims to stimulate their brain development in a harmonious way... Musical creativity is one of the fundamental functions of the brain, along with language and mathematical logic. And like all creativity, you have to know how to boost it. Music is motivating and conveys positive emotions, thus reducing stress and anxiety, while promoting memory and cognitive functions, or even motivation to play sports! While music may have been with you all day even before the lockdown, and your use of the Cohabs Houses Sonos is real, embrace it whatever style it is! In short - music is great, it's good for your health, your mind, your efficiency, your culture, and it's even better when you share it.
Feel like traveling and immersing yourself in beautiful poetry? Why not go to Paris?
Although going to Paris during this period seems a little complicated, one can imagine the empty streets that can lend themselves to the legendary romanticism of this city... and the rich culture continues to vibrate. We can all benefit from using our imaginations a bit more during this crazy time. From philharmony to opera, you can access unique shows online. From classics such as Carmen or Swan Lake to the modernity of Jeff Mills or Etienne de Crecy. You'll have something to impress at your post-corona dinners.
Travel safe... ;) Look out for our next post on Learning something new!
