Summer in the city…

…is hot! Summer in Paris brings daily temperatures of at least 25°C, sometimes soaring to sizzling highs of 40°C. The days are nice and long too, with daylight stretching beyond 10pm—perfect for making the most of outdoor events and activities late into the night. The flip side of the glorious sunshine is that the heat, coupled with the throngs of tourists, can sometimes make things humid and uncomfortable. This is particularly true when everybody is cramming onto the Paris metro. Many trains don’t have air conditioning, and traveling on them can be a nightmare. We recommend avoiding the metro completely and taking a stroll instead. It’s a lovely way to explore the city, and it’s surprising how many stations are within a short distance of one another.

Worried about walking alone? There’s security in numbers, and it can be a good idea to take some of your fellow coliving housemates or community members along to keep you company. Having friends with you boosts your confidence, and it’s much more fun sharing the sights and the new and interesting things you stumble across. Just be sure to stay hydrated! Parisians prefer to take a break from the city in the warm summer months to vacation elsewhere. However, they are replaced by tourists in their droves, and the capital can get super crowded—especially around major tourist sites and attractions. This means that you’ll need to be on your guard and keep an eye on your belongings, as pickpockets are common. Having members of your household or extended coliving family to watch your back when out and about is a significant advantage when enjoying the best of the city’s seasonal festivities. Check out our tips on how to avoid Paris tourist traps for useful extra info.

Another major advantage to coliving is being able to share the financial burden of living in a capital city, and being able to benefit from upscale accommodation that would otherwise be out of reach. Cohab Paris’ beautiful living spaces are designed to be light and airy, and most feature cool courtyards, leafy gardens, or fabulous roof terraces—an ideal haven to relax and cool down when the city gets stifling. Having outdoor space like this is a huge bonus in hot weather, and a feature which many people wouldn’t be able to afford if renting alone. Cohabs homes are created with a keen understanding of what members need and want to make their stay as simple, stylish, sustainable, and productive as possible while enjoying their best Paris life.

In July and August, certain areas of the Bassin de la Villette on the banks of the Seine are transformed into beaches with sand, sun, deckchairs, swimming, street entertainers, watersports, and bars, from 9am to midnight.

Coliving activities for fun in the sun this summer

At Cohabs, the management team tirelessly researches what’s hot and happening in local neighborhoods. They use this research to organize events and activities for members based on their interests. Organized events are an excellent way to bring members together so they can benefit from all the advantages of coliving. After all, who best to share your summer experiences within this breathtaking city than a close community of carefully selected, open-minded people who you can be confident are going to be on your wavelength? A wide range of summer events might include anything from after-work drinks at an edgy new rooftop bar or a yoga session in the park, to going en masse to a major festival like Rock en Seine.

Coliving members are also encouraged to create their own community events, and the sunny summer temperatures unlock an exciting new world of fun things to do and places to explore in the city. Having people who are easy to get along with in your home makes it simple to do things on the spur of the moment, such as picnicking in a beautiful park together and indulging in artisanal cheese and wine, or wandering along the banks of Seine and joining in a game of pétanque with the locals. Being part of a coliving community also makes sharing insights and keeping your finger on the pulse of everything going on in the local area easy. Coliving members are much more likely to find entertaining stuff to do off the tourist trail and have greater opportunities to get involved in their Paris community.
