Dear Community,
When we founded Cohabs, we believed housing could be more than a product. It could create belonging, strengthen communities, and positively shape the cities where we operate.
That belief also guides our commitment to sustainability. Today, we are committing Cohabs to a 2035 operational decarbonisation pathway.
As an owner and operator of homes across multiple cities and countries, we believe our responsibility goes beyond providing great living spaces. It includes reducing our environmental footprint, improving asset resilience, and contributing to a more sustainable model of urban living.
Shared living, the renovation and reuse of existing buildings, and a more efficient use of residential space have always been part of the Cohabs DNA. This commitment formalises and accelerates that journey.
Our pathway is based on a 2025 operational baseline and follows a portfolio-wide operational decarbonisation trajectory targeting an average annual reduction in emissions intensity of 9.8% through 2035.
We will monitor progress against this pathway and continue to strengthen our data, reporting and governance practices to ensure transparency and accountability over time.
This ambition builds on work already underway across Cohabs:
- Improving the energy performance of our homes through renovation, electrification and targeted energy efficiency upgrades.
- Progressively reducing reliance on fossil fuel systems and increasing the share of renewable electricity across the portfolio.
- Embedding sustainability into acquisitions, investment decisions, operations and asset management.
- Monitoring energy consumption to drive continuous improvement across the portfolio.
- Strengthening the integration of climate considerations into governance, investment decisions and portfolio management.
- Supporting our members and teams in reducing energy consumption and promoting more sustainable behaviours.
- Testing and scaling innovative solutions to improve building performance, energy efficiency, and operational resilience.
We know this journey will continue to evolve as our portfolio grows, our data improves, and our understanding of climate impacts deepens. But we believe progress starts with commitments that are measurable, transparent and actionable.
Over the past ten years, Cohabs has grown by constantly rethinking what housing can be. This commitment is a continuation of that spirit and an important step in building more resilient homes, stronger communities and a more sustainable future.
To our members, employees, investors, partners and the cities we are privileged to be part of: thank you for building this with us.
With conviction,
The Cohabs Co-Founders
Youri, Malik & François
The Operational Decarbonisation Pathway will be reviewed at least every three years, with progress monitored and reported annually.
